There are several Search Engine Submission Services around. Please do not fall for that. They are totally useless.

Besides the cost, usually not very high, they don’t do anything useful for you. It’s true that most of Search Engines have a “submit website” page, but still the best way to end up in their indexes is through natural discovery; get a link from a website already indexed by major Search Engines, and in a matter of days, yours  should be indexed as well. If you use the forms I just talked about, you risk to never being indexed through that, or that you have to wait a long time.

A few services declare to submit your website to hundreds, if not thousands of Search Engines. What’s the point in doing that? The 4 biggest serch engines represent probably 90% of the market, so why bother with smaller players? Also, having a link pointing to your site is the beginning of your link building strategy. I am in disagreement with this post: http://tips-for-new-bloggers.blogspot.com/2007/09/submit-blog-to-search-engines.html

Please let me know if you agree or not with my analysis of these services.
